Marca report that the striker is at the exit door and set to leave in the coming days.
After Mariano’s reluctance to leave Los Blancos last year, he finally appears ready to embark on a new adventure after an unsuccessful return to the club from Lyon in 2018.
At that time Los Blancos brought him back for a fee of €22 million, it was expected to be the start of something special. However, Mariano has started just 12 La Liga games over the past four years, with Karim Benzema dominating the minutes and a handful of alternatives often being preferred to Mariano on the bench. This time, it seems that Mariano could be keen on leaving Real Madrid to play a bigger role elsewhere.

On the other hand, Real Madrid don’t have room for him anymore. Youngster Juanmi Latasa is backed to make up the numbers in the case of injuries, while Eden Hazard is used as a number nine.
According to Cadena SER, Mariano Diaz has received interest to join Celta Vigo this summer. However, it was held up given that he reportedly wants to earn around €5 million/year in order to leave Real Madrid.

Celta would not pay any kind of transfer fee for Mariano and the striker would have to take a salary cut in order to join the Vigo-based club, per that same report.
With just a year left on his contract, Los Blancos intends to find a mutual agreement on his high wages and move him on this summer.
