Real Madrid superstar Karim Benzema has extended his contract with the club until 2024, with an official announcement expected soon.
The 34-year-old has been getting better with age. The French veteran has arguably had his best season ever, scoring 44 goals in 46 games and providing 15 assists in the process. Undoubtedly a key figure in Real Madrid’s attack, no player in their squad can take more credit for their La Liga and Champions League double.
For the French superstar, who has had to play in the shadow of Cristiano Ronaldo for most of his Real Madrid career. However, it is time for his efforts and contributions to receive the recognition they deserve.
On top of that, Benzema will now sign a new contract with Real Madrid, extending his stay at the club until the summer of 2024.
Named club captain this season following Marcelo‘s departure, the 34-year-old’s current contract expires next year. Even though he will turn 35 in a few months, the center forward is still a world-class operator and an extension seems like a fair reward.
An integral part of Carlo Ancelotti‘s presence at the Santiago Bernabeu, Benzema has started the new season with two goals and one assist in three appearances in all competitions, although so far he has looked a bit haggard.
For Real to reach the heights of last season again this season, they will need the Frenchman firing on all cylinders.
