Real Madrid may be quiet in the transfer market but the club office is still working day and night. Facilitating departures has been the main objective of the team, with player renewals being a close second.

One player who looks set to leave the club is Dani Ceballos. The Spaniard’s lack of playing time last season pushed him to look for a way out, despite his agent’s best efforts, such an opportunity did not present itself.

Real Madrid are currently considering a contract extension for Ceballos. The club will discuss a possible move with the 26-year-old in the coming days.

It is worth mentioning that Ancelotti has been a strong advocate of the midfielder’s continuity. Ceballos wants to break into the Spanish national team before the World Cup and wants guaranteed playing time this season.

The 26-year-old missed the first half of the season due to injury and made just 11 appearances for the whites last year, averaging four defensive actions per game. moreover, he did not register any goal contributions too.

Ceballos’s current deal expires in the summer of 2023, implying that he could be available on a free transfer next year if the club do not resolve the issue of an extension.

If he stays, he will face competition not only from the likes of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos but also from the likes of Camavenga, Valverde, and Aurelien, as well as from the younger generation, including Tchouameni.

Needless to say, leaving the Bernabeu would improve his chances of featuring in the World Cup. However, as things stand, it seems unlikely that Ceballos will be re-signed.
